“So this is the State Correctional Institute of Pittsburgh. That’s where a bunch of my buddies are. Rather than getting on with their life, the vast majority of the guys end up here or dead.
“The state spends $33,000 a year on each prisoner…which makes the total cost of the average prison term $132,000. The average private school cost $8,300 a year. So, for the same amount, we could have sent a prison inmate to a private school from kindergarten through 12th grade, and still had over $24,000 left over for college.
“It’s a very expensive hotel man. You gotta feed them for three meals a day. You have to provide recreation. You have to provide security. You have to provide medical care. These guys don’t pay taxes. They don’t work. It’s money that goes one way only.”

Dream Chasing: The Unconscious

Day 10 (Part 2): July 10, 2011

This and the previous post were originally one entity but I decided to separate them to make this “Sleep Blog.”

This has been the story of my life every single day…except instead of starting at 11 it starts around 3, 4, 5, even 6, or 7 in the morning. I finally accept the fact that jet lag does in fact exist and I am susceptible. Wikipedia and Google confirmed it and it actually has known physiological effects. This may seem very obvious but I used to think I could just adjust my cycle according to when I choose to sleep and wake up but at least I’m getting a better understanding of my circadian rhythms. It appears I should be most bright-eyed and bushy-tailed around 6 PM (6 AM here, unfortunately). Maybe I can do more research and use it to my advantage in the future.

While I was composing this post, I Stumbled Upon this:

That pretty much says it all. So GET YOUR SLEEP PEOPLE. Dream on! ;]
